Talking TV 15: How does the Flash fair without the Flash?

We lose a Kree, Supergirl assembles a team, and Elongated Man rises on this edition of Talking TV.

Agents of SHIELD Season 5 Episode 9: Best Laid Plans

When a new character comes onto SHIELD they usually don’t get as much development as our normal crew. This seems to be changing with Deke. Deke has been getting som much development recently and his decisions to release his captive and save Daisy from Sinara felt completely earned and I loved every minute of it.

One of my favorite scenes from this episode was the standoff between Yoyo, Mac, and Kasius. It was a very tense scene played extremely well by all of the actors and most importantly each character got their moment to shine.

My big disappointment of this episode was I wanted more from the Sinara and Daisy fight. They had a great concept with the zero gravity fight but they didn’t use it to its full potential. Also after all the build-up for Sinara, I felt she didn’t get the death she deserved.

Arrow Season 6 Episode 11: We Fall

This was a solid episode that was made with two great scenes. The first was the confrontation between Oliver and Cayden inside Oliver’s office. That scene was so full of tension and Michael Emerson just oozed charisma. It was a perfect way to introduced Cayden’s big threat this week.

The second scene was the monologue that Felicity gave William at the end of the episode. It was a perfect use of Felicity’s character and the dialogue was excellent. I also love the trope of a monologue over a fight scene.

I’m not a big fan of what they are doing with Vigilante. I was excited about the concept of Vigilante being on the villain team and now they seem to be turning him face. The potential drama of having Dinah and Vigilante on opposite ends would have worked really well too.

Flash Season 4 Episode 11: The Elongated Knight Rises

To get the big problem out of the way, this Trickster can’t hold a candle to Mark Hamill. He lacks the charisma that Hamill has and feels like they wanted to involve him and couldn’t get him back. Another problem I had with this episode was that Ralph’s new suit doesn’t look very great. It might grow on me but it felt bland.

Each episode I grow to like Ralph more and more. I don’t know if it’s the actor’s charm or the writing but I really love what they are doing with Ralph. They also are doing some really creative things with Ralphs powers and I’m loving it.

Lastly, I’m really enjoying what they are doing with the future girl. She is a lot of fun and she is obviously going to be very important to the story so I’m wondering if it’s Dawn or someone else.

Supergirl Season 3 Episode 11: Fort Rozz

In her previous appearances, I wasn’t a huge fan of Livewire but she really did it for me this week. She was much more of a three-dimensional character compared to her more static previous incarnation. I also think the writers had a better handle on her powers and allowed her to cut loose.

On the other hand, I am not a fan of Psy. She is so bland and it didn’t feel like she had any point in the story except to have another female character on the team. Unlike Livewire whose turn was totally earned Psy didn’t feel earned at all.

I really loved seeing Alex and Ruby bond. Alex is such a loving character and seeing her joy and enthusiasm for having a kid is great to see. It was also a really cool and badass moment to see Alex intimidate Ruby’s bully.
