New Comic Wednesday: Jared’s Picks for December 27th

On this edition of New Comic Wednesday, the Purple Man returns, Doomsday Clock continues, and we return to the planet of Crait.

Doomsday Clock #2

Written by Geoff Johns

Art by Gary Frank

The first issue of Doomsday Clock had a lot of great setups and was a great continuation of Watchmen. My only issue with the first issue was the lack of characters from the DC Universe but with this issue is going to change that. Solicits have said that this issue will bring both Batman and Lex Luthor into the story and that is intriguing. I’m really hoping that we get an interaction between Lex and Ozymandias and know that this issue will be fantastic.

Jessica Jones #15

Written by Brian Michael Bendis

Art by Michael Gaydos

This title has been fantastic since it started back up again and after waiting for months we are finally getting Jessica and Killgrave face to face. Killgrave is such an incredible villain for Jessica because of their personal connection but if you don’t know about the history between them it still works because Killgrave is so intimidating. This issue is going to be fantastic and incredibly tense so go pick it up!

Star Wars: The Storms of Crait #1

Written by Ben Acker

Art by Mike Mayhew

The Last Jedi was one hell of a good time but if you’re like me you want to know about all of the planets and species. In this issue, we’re flashing back to the discovery of Crait by Luke and Leia. I’m really excited to see some classic Luke and Leia banter. I’m not familiar with Ben Acker but from his credits, he seems to be well versed in the Star Wars universe. He usually writes for children so I’m curious how he writes a title like this. Art for this issue is being handled by Mike Mayhew who is a fantastic cover artist but doesn’t do a lot of interior work. This is going to be an interesting issue and I’m curious to see if they can pull it off.
