Metal begins, a new arc for Trinity and Laura and Logan reunite on this edition of New Comic Wednesday.
Dark Nights Metal #1
Written by Scott Snyder
Art by Greg Capullo
DC’s big event of the year is finally here and I couldn’t be more excited! The preludes of Casting and Forge were great and set up so much. Plastic Man, The Outsiders, The Hawks, I’m not sure how Snyder is going to juggle all the plot lines but I believe he can.
One of the most exciting things about Snyder on this title is he’s writing different characters. Snyder has written mainly Batman and Nightwing stories with a little bit of Superman so seeing how he writes the rest of the JL and other characters should be interesting.
We are also getting the return of Greg Capullo at DC after his hiatus. Capullo is an amazing artist and seeing him draw other characters than Batman will be great. This title has been hyped up a lot by DC so I hope it exceeds my expectations.
Generations Wolverine & All-New Wolverine
Written by Tom Taylor
Art by Ramon Rosanas
Tom Taylor has been killing it with All-New Wolverine and my only issue has been the lack of interaction between Logan and Laura. This issue will hopefully change that with both Logan and Laura sharing billing. I thought Taylor proved that we could write Wolverine in their short team up last year so I’m excited to see what he does this issue. I’m curious to see if this is going to place in the present or in the past. I want to see a present day story but Wolverine is wearing his classic costume on the cover and isn’t in his Logan garb. Regardless this is going to be a great issue and probably a great jumping on point for new readers.
Written by Francis Manapul and Rob Williams
Art by Clay Mann
Trinity has been a great title but I felt like the last arc was not on par with the rest of the series. I’m really hopeful for this new arc with all the players involved. They are bringing in Deadman, Constantine, Zatanna, Red Hood, Bizarro, and Artemis and also reintroducing Circe and Ra’s Al Ghul into the story. Rob Williams is helping Manapul on writing for this arc and he’s a great choice for this book. He has experience with team books from his excellent work on Suicide Squad so I’m happy to see him here. Clay Mann is also returning to the title and his art is always welcome. This new arc has a lot of promise and I believe it has the potential to its best one yet.
