One of the absolute pleasures about blogging about the Cardinals is the “United Cardinal Bloggers Weekend”. This is where we are treated to not only a game but a Q&A session with John Mozeliak and Bill Dewitt III.
This is such an honor. I know that I am not your typical journalist who went got a degree in the field and have a job at a big newspaper. I know my role, I am a fan with opinions and I decide to use this medium to divulge those opinions. However, I don’t claim to be as good as the likes of Derrick Goold, so I don’t expect to have the kind of access that Derrick Goold gets. However, once a year my fellow bloggers and I get to sort of have that access. So, to have the opportunity to speak with the St. Louis Cardinals‘ John Mozeliak is something I enjoy very much.
Usually, I go about transcribing the entire session and finding a way to write what I feel is most important about what Mozeliak said. However, this year, with the launch of our YouTube channel, I decided to do things a little differently. So, I went ahead and recorded the entire session via my phone.
Today will be the session with John Mozeliak and tomorrow will be the session with Bill Dewitt III. I will leave it up to contributing writers Erik Neff and Brain Swope to dive a little deeper into the different things that were said by both men.
But, a little summary of what is covered. The Adam Wainwright DL news is brought to our attention which is unfortunate but slightly worrisome at the same time. I brought up the pace of play initiatives to Mo and he was able to delve into what the players think about it and his stance on the matter as well.
My favorite piece of information was actually something Mo decided to throw in at the end of the session. He actually voluntarily shared an update on Alex Reyes, who was surprisingly not a topic of discussion from any of my fellow bloggers.
That is just the tip of the iceberg of what Mozeliak generously shared with us. I hope you enjoy the video. If you are interested in winning free tickets to a Cardinals game this season, go ahead and subscribe to our YouTube channel and follow us on Twitter. Once we get to 100 Subscribers and 1,000 Followers on Twitter we will be giving away two tickets to an upcoming Cardinals game.
Tomorrow, we will have Bill Dewitt’s portion of the Q&A, so stay tuned!
